Took a decent pace and worked on hitting the pockets before jumping, tried not to get too crazy with my feet too.
Diet- so diet overhaul. im experimenting with the Zone. This week I plan on writing down everything weighed and measured and see what im doing exactly...So far today ive had 109g protein, 115g of fat, and 49g of carbs; im not counting any protein that doesnt come from an animal, i am counting all fat and carbs no matter where its found. the zone recommended a 20 block a day diet for me, im about 30g short on protein, over 100g short on carbs, and roughly double my allotted fat intake. I am going to shoot for double fat and half carbs as a base and go from there getting these carb blocks in is going to be a pain in the ass....oh yeah and i found raw milk, my new post wod drink.

so, are you going Zaleo?, or just zone? plugging in whatever so long as you satisfy your blocks?
ReplyDeleteIm thinking of kicking paleo to the side for the sake of time and sanity. The people that can do both obviously have their act together more than I. I dont want to stray too far. Im thinking some very unrefined ancient grain type carb for breakfast (quinoa, buckwheat etc;if its easy enough to prepare). maybe ezekiel bread and sandwiches for lunch. postwod - milk whey banana- then dinner - paleo/zone style. I feel like ive eaten too much fruit in the past 2 days trying to come up with carb blocks, leaves me hungry for more sugar.
ReplyDeleteif you start playing around with the blocks are you still in the Zone, as it were...i think this is a good question for crossfiters who use the zone and then start to modify the block recommendations; at what point does the efficacy of the diet lose ground, and something that was about hormonal balance is nothing more than calorie counting under a different moniker? not that this is what you are doing, or that you lost sifht of the main intent, but it seems that so many Xfitters out there who taut the Zone flag have altered its state so drastically that really i have a hard time stomaching it as the Zone.

yeah, i agree and thats why i was hesitant to try it for so long. Im really just experimenting with macronutrient ratios, paleo was great but i want to see if gradually increasing carb intake (with quality) will payoff with better recovery. i feel most people gravitate toward the zone, for the same reason we all call what we do crossfit, it gives us a language we can all agree on. the zone is a macronutrient language, paleo a food quality language, crossfit a conditioning language. its unfortunate the zone all also has characteristics of a snake oil salesman and a late night infomercial.
